Theodore Svenningsen is a renowned American artist whose works have been exhibited and collected in museums and private collections worldwide. Mr. Svenningsen has a master's degree in Fine Arts from Otis College of Art and Design, bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Philosophy from UCLA. Theordore Svenningsen's body of work is expansive and is informed by his life experiences in fine art and philosophy. Both are integral to the appreciation of his series of Railroad Paintings.
The Railroad paintings have their generation in childhood memories of train travel and train yards. As early as kindergarten, Theodore was drawing pictures of boxcars, the shapes and details of which fascinated him. The Railroad Paintings can be interpreted on both emotional and intellectual levels. They are visually beautiful, emotionally evocative due to the forms, lines and shapes which lead to an abstract quality of the works. There is also a philosophical aspect of the works: the trains become animate objects moving through an empty expanse toward a point of reference. In the Railroad Paintings, man's creations are insignificant relative to the overwhelming force and vastness of nature. Snow is a comforting cloak against the harshness of the world.
Jack Thomas Cassinetto (March 26,1944- January 4, 2018) was a prolific California plein air artist. Cassinetto was known for his tonalist style of painting which emphasized mood and shadow with muted palates. Tonalism emerged as an artistic movement in California from circa 1890 to 1920. Cassinetto adapted the tonalist style to his interpretation of Northern California landscapes. Formally trained as an artist, he was a lifelong painter. He also dabbled in multiple occupations including commodities broker, teacher, Sonora City Councilman and Mayor. Cassinetto's work has been featured in numerous publications and has been displayed in multiple galleries.
In addition to painting, Cassinetto's art extended to his picture frames, most of which were hand crafted.
